In 1896, gold was discovered near present day Dawson City, Yukon, resulting in as many as 100,000 adventurers rushing to the Klondike River, including miners, prospectors, business-men, and bankers. From 1896 to 1899, more than $29 million in gold was pulled from the ground around Dawson City before discoveries of gold in Alaska created another gold rush further west. Located at the foot of the Bear Mountain Ridge, this town of 1400 today still thrives on the same industries that attracted people more than a century ago: gold mining and wilderness exploration.

Material: Genuine Goat Leather
Our bags are made in a small Indian studio using Indian goat hide leather. Our bags are made of naturally tanned (chemical free) genuine leather and are lined with cotton canvas. All of our hides are oiled, not dyed, which brings out the natural beauty of the leather.
A few things to keep in mind: While we are almost certain that you’ll love your Mountain Messenger Bag, we can’t guarantee that your bag will look exactly like the one shown in our pictures.
Our leather bags are made from un-dyed leather. We are selective about the hides that are used in our bags, but we don’t use dyes to cover the small spots and markings that are natural and authentic.
Goat hides come in a variety of colors and shades. The bag you receive will very likely not be the exact same color as the one shown, and may also combine hides of different shades.
Leather will last for a lifetime. Scratches and snags are unavoidable when our bags are put to good use. Goat hide is soft and very durable, and unlike most leathers, it will actually look even better as it ages! Your bag will develop a beautiful natural patina over time, so don’t be afraid to use it.
Please also note that when you first receive it, your bag will smell of leather – unfortunately, this wonderful smell mostly fades within a few weeks!
